Daniel Merlin (1861–1933) was a French animal painter born in Audigny, France, who is almost exclusively known for his paintings of cats and kittens. He studied under the French history painter J.P. Laurens in Paris and regularly exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes in the city until his death
